Jakarta si fortunete to have a selection of art venues, which cater for many tastes. The Jakarta Convention Center is the main venues for large scale concerts includingspecials shows and attracts many big names in rock,pop and contemporary music. Host to Jakarta Jazz Festival and JakJazz, its many halls allow for many performances in a festival setting. Now the Jakarta Jazz Festival is considered to be one of the worlds great Jazz Festivals.

If you want to expereince what is happening in Indonesian music, the Jakarta Fair Ground in Kemayoran ( PRJ ) often has concert series of local rock, pop and jazz groups.

For those who like to see opera and classical music the Jakarta Opera Group.Twilite, and Nusantara Symphony Orchestra's have regular performances, which delight audiences with everything from Mozart to famous Indonesia classical composers, like Ismail Marzuki.

Set in a beautifully restired neo-renaisssance building, the Jakarta Art center, affectionately knows as Gedung Kesenian jakarta, hosts some of the city best performances of music, dance and theatre by both Indonesian and visiting artists. It is worth keeping up to date with their calendar as the schedule can include anything from gamelan and wayang puppet shows to classical music and modern dance

Known as TIM for short, this place is a focal point for cultural activities in Jakarta. It is said to be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia and consist of exhibition halls, theatres, an academy of the arts and even a planetarium. There are performance almost every night with everything from traditional and modern dance, poetry radings, theatrical performances and music of every style imaginable.

This modern performance venue hold the cities "black box" theatre, a roof top garden for open air theatre and gallery. Home to theatre Utan Kayu and community of different Indonesian performers, the spacious, modern architecture is perfect for innovative contemporary displays of drama, dance, music and song. Situated in the heart of the city, this unique concert venue was converted from a national monument conceived by Lieutenant General H.M. Sarbini into a concert hall when the area was developed to include the Plaza Semanggi shopping mall.Its unique " flying saucer' design allows for some of the best acoustics in town. Home to Nusantara Symphony Orchestra, it is the perfect place to experince classical music, opera, jazz, pop, and drama. It is also a popular venue for one-off entertainment shows and special performances.

Situated in the Center Business District this large theatre is often the venue of the Jakarta Opera Society. This international standard company perform mini-opera and specially commissined modern works. The large theatre is perfect for large scale dance performances, concert and plays.

Near the Monas, in old Paser Senen area, the Bharata Theatre has regular performance of  " wayang orang" which depicts stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. These traditional heroic plays are accompanied by lavish costumes, dancers, gamelan music and narrated by a "dalang " or  storyteller.

Situated to the north of the city Pekan Raya Jakarta ( PRJ ) is a vast exhibition area and home to annual Jakarta Fair. Recently it has become a venue for large-scale pop and rock concert. Attracting large crowds you really get the feeling of big concerts which are popular in Europe and America.

As part of the Ancol entertainment complex in north jakarta, this venue nexy to the sea hosts many concerts covering, heavy rock, pop and "dangdut", the popular Indonesia music, usually sung by  young ladies who tend to move in slightly suggestive ways. The music is a fusion of Arabic,Indian and Indonesian influences, and once experienced can be quite addictive.
