First Generation  : Bioenergy Crops Based
The first generation of biofuels deriveds directly from the food through thr process of abstraction (for biodiesel) or fermentation (for bioethanol). Wheat and sugarcane are main raw material for producing bioethanol, while vegetable oils(mainly palm oil) for biodiesel feedstock. because this biofuel demand continues to increase, it will automatically increase the volume of food that must be converted into bioenergy. A wave of diversion of food result from the barn to the food price and potentially trigger a global food crisis. The use of bioenergy generation has given rise to a debate that culminated in polarization "Food vs Fuel".

Second Generation ; Bioenergy Based Non-food Crops
Four  Generation Bioenergy Development
Development of second generation bioenergy taken as an attempt to address the development of bioenergy in advance. Generation bioenergy is produced not from food crops, but of wood organic waste, sewage processing of biomass crops and specialty crops. In this genaration, the resulting bioenergy more competitive compared with fossil fuels. In addition, bioenergy also has greenhouse emission levels lower than the first generation. This phase is still constrained by the land acquisition of raw material production and processing technologies competitive.

Third Generation : Biomass-based Bioenergy Engineering Carbon Neutral
In this hase, biofuels produced from biomass, particularly with engineering bioenergy crops thar are carbon neutral , such as algea. Algea is a renewable raw material, has a high energy content and can be developed a tlow cost. Estimated that has potential to produce more energy than conventional crops. Plants can also be grown in water or soil that is not suitable for food crops. In additional,  biofules produced from algea can production in various froms such as biodiesel fuel and jet bippetrol biofuel.

The Fourth Generation : Biomass Based Bioenergy Engineered Negative Carbon
Bioenergy in developing the fourth-generation technology using religious types are different from each other, especially in the developed biomass engineering. The similiarity lies in the use of engineering that are negative biomass carbon, not just carbon neutral. This phase is further development of third generation.
