Saving Energy Movement

For Indonesia, doing energy saving is a must. Indonesia is getting attention because it is considered wasteful in the use of energy. Waste is threatening the availability, burdening the budget and threaten the stability of the environment. This is reflected in two main indicators to measure the efficiency  of energy use of a country, as  done by the International Energy Agency (2009), which is expressed in the eleasticity index  of energy and energy intensity.

Energy elasticity index is the ratio beetwen the growth rate of consumption to economic growth. According to the survey institute, Indonesia elasticity index of 1.63. That is, to encurage economic growth by 1% the Indonesia energy consumption should rise an average of 1.63%. if Indonesia's economic growth of 6%. it would reguire additional energy supply by 9.78%. Compares with energy elasticity index several other ASEAN countries such as Singapore (1.1) and Thailang (1.4), Indonesia energy elasticity index higher.

Associated with these conditions,the goverment launched the National Movement Indonesia Saving Energy, through this movement the government want to encourage all components to behave efficient in energy use. As a manisfestation of this movement the government established five policies related to energy savings.

1. Control of fuel disribution
 Entry is valid at every gas station in the center and the regions, carried out by utilizing advance in information technology. Each vehicle will be recorded electronically. Likewise, on each charge of fuel, the amount of subsidized fuel  recorded automatically. Pertamina is responsible for keeping the supply in accordance wtih the quota of subsidized  fuel area, as well as providing non-subsidized  fuel what is necessary.

2. Ban the use of subsidized  fuel by goverment vehicles
This prohibition applies to red plate vehicle central government, local government, state enterprises and enterprises by way of a special sticker. The central government, local government, state enterprises shall be a clear example in energy saving measures.

3. Ban the use of subsidized fuel for plantation and mining
the ban is also done by applying a sticker system. Surveillance conducted by BPH Migas integrated cooperate with law enforcement agencies and local governments

4. Converting to CNG fuel in vehicles
Converting to CNG fule in transport to major national program to reduce oil dependence. As a support facility in 2012 built a new gas filling stations as many as 33 stationss and 8 stations will be revitalized. Will also be distributed 15 000 converter kit, or a conversion tool to use CNG fuel for public transport gradually, abd continue to improved in the future.

5. Electricity and water savings
Saving electricity and water usage predence applies to government officies, local governments, state enterprises, as well as saving lighting street.
