Flirtung with several attractive blog topics is fun, but sooner aor later you need to commit.

If you've followed along over the last few posts, there's a good change you have found  atopic that feel like " The One". You've done enough research to feel confident you and your topic are compatible, and you're positively brimming with passion.

Before you head off to get your "marriage licence" domain name, here's one last thing to consoder. Just as regular, consistent, guality communication is vital to a successful marriage, so it is with blogging. Professional bloggers recommend posting fresh content on your blog 3-5 times a week. Some recommend posting even more frequently. That’s a whole lot of communicating.

How can you know you have what it takes to keep blogging after the honeymoon is over?
Here’s one good way to find out. Pull out your blogging notebook and brainstorm or mind-map on your topic. Can you fill up a page or two with ideas for blog posts? If you’re unfamiliar with mind-mapping,
Darren Rowse wrote a great post about it over at Problogger.

Don’t panic if your brain freezes up. Just relax and remember why you love this topic. Ask yourself:
If you were writing a book about your topic, what would the chapters be about?
When you talk with people about this topic, what sorts of things do you discuss?
What questions do people ask you about this topic?
What do you enjoy reading about your topic?
What would you like to learn about your topic?

So, how did it go? Hopefully doing the exercise simply confirmed what you already felt was a sure thing. If not, it doesn’t mean you have to break up with your topic, but you might want to postpone the wedding.
